The Isis Education Centre, The LookOut, Hyde Park is a natural haven in the heart of London where children, adults and businesses can uncover, discover and be inspired by the natural world.
Conceived by the Royal Parks Foundation, the charity for London’s eight Royal Parks, The Isis Education Centre supported by Halcyon Gallery provides a unique opportunity to explore in depth the rich biodiversity of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens.
Our fully qualified staff members can deliver interactive national curriculum linked sessions for everyone from early years to adults based in our two fully equipped classrooms each accommodating up to 30 students at one time. We use state of the art technology (digital microscopes, hidden wildlife cameras) to deliver a range of creative sessions focussing on sustainability and ecology.
The new building has been developed with sustainability in mind, using natural resources where possible, keeping environmental impact to a minimum, encouraging biodiversity and offering visitors a unique and tangible learning experience. The building features wall cavities filled with recycled newspapers providing cellulose fibre insulation, water saving appliances and a living brown roof, which has already started to be colonised by low-growing, hardy, drought-tolerant vegetation – providing a great habitat for invertebrates and birds.
