Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT) is an independent charity working for a cleaner, greener, healthier Peterborough. PECT delivers a range of projects working with local people, communities, schools, businesses, local authorities and voluntary organisations.

Environmental Education is a vital part of Peterborough’s ambition to become the UK’s Environment Capital. They run a number of projects in local schools to support the delivery of environmental education, and to help schools reduce their carbon footprint. They also act as a single point of contact for schools and other local environmental education providers in Peterborough to allow a coordinated approach to eco education in Peterborough. Schools are supported in embedding environmental education into the ethos of their schools. The majority of Peterborough Schools follow the International Award Scheme Eco Schools.

As well as the projects that are directly aimed at schools, schools are also included in a range of other community projects such as the Walk Peterborough App, Forest for Peterborough, Faith in the Environment and Love Local and the annual Green Festival.
