The Sustainability and Education Academy (SEdA) – Developing and Implementing a System-Wide Sustainability Plan (Leadership and Planning for your Schools).
Purpose:
To inspire leaders to create a culture of sustainable development integrated into all aspects of the K to 12 education system – policy, curriculum, teaching, learning, professional development and the sustainable management of human, physical and financial resources.
Who is it for?
Senior Management Teams in school, leaders in a cluster of schools or leaders of school federations or associations.
What will it entail?
The model run successfully across Canada since 2008, involves a 4 day workshop with experts and international speakers, and action planning for senior management teams with facilitators offering support and advice on what has been seen to work. This course was the vision of Professor Charles Hopkins, UNESCO Chair on ‘Reorienting Teacher Education to Address Sustainability” at York University, Toronto and in Canada is a partnership between York University and Learning for a Sustainable Future, with many Corporate sponsors involved. The course is planned to run mid 2013 and involves:
- ESD Best Practices;
Case Studies; - Model Curricula;
- access to SEdA International Alumni Network;
- Benchmarking and Research on ESD;
- A selection of planning frameworks and planning sessions for school teams.
